Cloud model in which a runtime environment (platform) for applications is provided without having to manage infrastructure and base software yourself.
PaaS sits between IaaS and SaaS: the provider supplies compute, storage, operating system and often databases; the customer develops or runs their applications on top. This speeds development and reduces operational effort. Many SaaS providers build their services on PaaS offerings from large cloud providers.
